While I agree than any of the antenna/feedline scenarios posted could =
cause
the problem. I think most of you are overlooking the electronic problem
that could be occurring. Capacitors when they fail are usually =
intermittent
and a spike of voltage will cause them to start working again, this =
could
very well be the case.

My troubleshooting technique on this scenario, seeing as he says it only
happens when the radio has warmed up, may be temperature related. =
Running
the radio open with a can of freeze mist handy, wait for the failure and
very precisely, one by one, chill the coupling caps in the affected =
area. I
know this may not sound like a very technical way to troubleshoot, but =
I'll
give you a case in point.

20 plus years ago, I owned a repair company that fixed high-end Church =
and
Night-Club organs and keyboards. One client had a Yamaha EX1 (this is a =
35K
unit), and is all digital until the DACS finalize the sounds for the =
amps.
The unit would sound real bad for the first 30 minutes it was on, once =
it
warmed up it was fine. We used the extender board to get at the main =
Wave
Generator DAC board and after it warmed up, methodically chilled the
coupling caps. In about 10 minutes we found the offending cap and =
replaced
it. I billed the customer a Whole $75.00, time/labor/travel (remember =
this
was over 20 years ago). He had 2 other companies look at it and they =
were
never able to fix it, although in total he paid over $1,000 for the =
service
calls.
