Hi Jay,
I wasn't the originator of the thread. And I think what you have is a
4225, not a 4125, since that's the one with the voltage adjust knob.
I have one of those, too, and it has worked well for me, including two
RTTY DXpeditions. It's currently the bench supply, though, since it's
that much larger.

I like the Astrons myself, but they're noticeably larger, and I'm
always looking for more space-efficient gear. But performance
matters, too. So a K2 and a Samlex, rather than an IC-706 (a very
good rig, and has VHF and UHF in the same space) with a MFJ-4125,
seems to be the choice.

In fact, at home I'm using a Astron SS-30 and an IC-756PRO (I'm
addicted to the bandscope).

   Hi Doug,

I started with the MFJ-4125 when I got a 100 watt rig in 1998. It was
nice looking and worked fine, except that turning the voltage knob
shorted something inside and tripped the fuse repeatedly. I returned it
and got a Astron SS30M, which has been on 24/7 for the past 5+ years
continuously. I'm also using a Samlex 1223 on some other gear, which
is nice and compact and the price can't be beat.

I know this is anecdotal information and may not reflect the general
experience. I'm sticking with Astron and Samlex, though, in case my
   experiences are not atypical.
