[Elecraft] Buddipole Antenna and K2

I regularly use a CBP (Commercial BuddiPole) at my Condo QTH and just had
several FB VK QSOs at 9170+ Miles 100W out. The CBP is on an 18 foot
collapsible pole out on my patio.

I can quickly tune the ant by adjusting it's Taps/length and get great SWR
reliably. If I'm in a real hurry the KAT2 tunes it right up, but I feel
better about it without the tuner.

One word of advice on accessories: Avoid the optional rotator arms unless
you really need them or want to experiment with odd configurations. The "T"
that serves as the insulator/feed point for the system looks to have been
originally designed for having the elements in line with the T. The rotator
arms turn the elements 90 degrees to the side and this results in a
rotational force on the T fittings. The T is nowhere near mechanically
robust enough for these forces that result from use of the rotator arms. The
fittings in my T became very unreliable and the feed point connectors
started popping free with the rotator arms in place.

Other than the above caveat, it's a fine portable system for use with the
K2.

Subject: [Elecraft] Buddipole Antenna and K2

Anyone have any experience using a W3FF
"Buddipole" portable dipole antenna with the K2?
With a K2 without the KAT2 installed?

How suitable would one of these antennas be for
day-to-day use at the home QTH? I'm looking for
something that would be easy to put up and take
down in the evenings and on weekends. (I live
under CCRs forbidding the erection, at least
permanent erection, of outdoor antennas - right
now I;m using a mulit-band dipole hung in the
rafters of my garage.)
