Folks,
Thanks to all for the suggestions...
I just *knew* the list would have some good ideas...
My decision, based on some *great* input:-
Considering the terrain, the concensus was roughly split between some form
of center supported dipole in the form of an inverted V and a random length
long wire with a counter poise...
Considering the time of day, I'll be fabricating two antennae;
1: A 44ft doublet and try to use use the KAT2 tuner to achieve some form of
a match (we hope!!)
Feedline will probably be either RG-58 or RG-8X - easier to roll up without
tangling.
Assuming a 22-30 ft fibreglass pole as the center support, the feedline will
be about 25 - 35 ft long.
2: A 28ft and 40 ft (defintely *NOT*resonant lengths) of sloping wire fed
against some sort of wire laid on the ground for a counterpoise. Far end up
about 20ft.
I will also take along a 20 -10 Windom that I already have built - this will
probably be up about 15 feet.
(( It's not worth a hoot on 17M :-( ))
I'll be doing a dummy run on October 11th, to test out the
antenna/site/battery combo.
Thanks for everybody's input
