[Elecraft] My God, what have I done?

Thought I'd like to lower the AGC voltage on K2 #3578 which has been
working FB since completion a couple of weeks ago -- but volume/band
noise would come up a good deal with AGC off, so thought I'd back it
down some...
Adjusting the pot -- oops, dropped my jeweler's screwdriver. Hit the
RF board between the diodes and right edge of the case.
There was a spark. Rig dead. Switch off instantly. But wait, now
smoke, heat. Pull power cord. That stopped it.
Screwdriver probably shorted aux 12V stake pin to ground I guess (I
put the KPA100 connector in "in advance"). Or messed with D10, D12 --
not much there.
Looks like the 8V regulator is cooked -- probably where the smoke was from.
I'm so depressed and angry with myself about this I think I'll go to
bed before I get into the liquor or firearms. But thought I'd whine
to the list first and share my pain. I hope you'll all tell me only
and handful of power supply parts are toast, and not every other
component on the control board....
:-(
