[Elecraft] K2 Volume

Tom and All,
I always thought my K2 was a little low on volume, but adequate, on the
home operating table. I had Rev B installed, and that seemed to make the
audio output less. At this last field day, my K2 could barely be heard
with both RF and AF gain controls up full. Operating alongside three other
rigs of other manufacturers which had enough volume to drive you out of the
tent didn't give a very good impression of the K2. On the other hand, I
have operated two other K2s and they have more AF output than mine. So I
vote for Gary or somebody to measure the input in uV to give a specified AF
output in volts across a 8 ohm or other appropriated AF load, when offset
1000 Hz or so, with specified settings of AGC, filter bandwidth, mode etc.
so we can all check our K2s and see if they are up to a standard. Give
some voltage readings at various stages so we can trace a signal through
the rig and see where we are losing the gain, if our K2 doesn't meet the
standard. If we cannot get them up to a standard, I vote for a standard
mod by Elecraft to give "enough audio to drive you out of the tent, even
though some K2s don't seem to need it."
