[Elecraft] K2 Volume

Hi

A simple test of the LM380 would be to set the side tone to a known =
value say 50 and measure the RMS volts across the speaker. As the side =
tone is generated in the MPU/DAC the drive signal should be the same in =
all K2's. If it varies from K2 to K2 then the gain of the LM380 is the =
culprit.=20

I have tried several external speakers. The passive ones have not been =
as loud as the K2 built in speaker. I tried several amplified computer =
speakers and found many of them will not tolerate RF fields near by. =
They will hum when the transmitter is keyed. Some of the better ones do =
not do this but they are in the $100 price range. I had problems with =
the cheap $20 computer speakers. I have not tried it on the K2 but I use =
a Kenwood remote speaker in my car on my Kenwood TMV-7 it is a DFK-7C =
and it is very loud but still small. It may work with the K2.
