Hi Bruce and fellow Elecrafters -
I suspect there are others who share Bruce's frustration in his recent post. I respect Bruce's frustration and really feel like the whole question demands a major review by Wayne and Eric. It is a terrible shame to have an owner shelve a K2 because the volume is the pits. Most respondents talk about adjusting the gain on R1...but it seems to me there are far to many of us out there who do not understand why two identical K2's can have different volumes when R1 is set to 3.8v on both. Also, what are the pros and cons of going beyond the manual's suggested setting? Wayne and Eric had to have a reason for suggesting 3.8v. Even my favorite guru Tom Hammond has shared in this volume concern. I know of at least one person that sold K2 because of volume. Isn't this an area where Wayne and Eric can make a difinitive statement on how to get the best volume AND do the tests to provide a baseline to check it with (as Tom Hammond has suggested)? I really urge them to do this myself - hope I'm not a lone whiner though :-) cause I love both of my K2's!
