Our new KX1 CW transceiver will be able to tune as much as 1 MHz above/below the
20, 30, and 40 m ham bands, thanks to its DDS VFO. The crystal filter can be
widened out to about 2 kHz, offering decent copy of AM stations (and of course
SSB). We're including this capability in the KX1 so that, for either casual
listening or emergency use, the operator can listen to AM broadcast and make
cross-mode (SSB/CW) QSOs.
In conjunction with this, we'd like to include some information in the KX1
manual about where the "action" is within the covered tuning ranges. If you're
an SWL (short-wave-listening) enthusiast and have some suggestions, please let
us know. What SWL segments near these three ham bands are the richest lode of
interesting broadcasts? What stations do you listen to most often?
Thanks,
Wayne
