[Elecraft] KPA100 problem

Elecraft gang:
After over a year of faultless operation, my KPA100 seems to be acting
up. The problem shows as a High Current display. The facts are:

1. This occurs at all power levels: 2 watts or 90 watts.
2.  It does not occur when the KPA100 is removed and the original lid is on;
the basic K2 seems to be working just fine.
3. It seems to occur more once the rig has been used and is warm, but not
        overly warm.
4. When the problem occurs, there is a dull thudding sound in the sidetone
under keying, and the audio sometimes drops off altogether until I
        switch bands.
5. There still seems to be output (the RF meter continues to go with the
keying), but the LED doesn't show a power indication.
6. Twice when this has happened, I have removed the KPA100 to check
soldering
(top of board only) and components. Everything seems ok. And when
I
have put things back together, it works again for a while.
7. This problem is intermittent. Sometimes it happens only for a letter or
two while keying and then normal operation snaps right back.
Sometimes
it comes to stay until I take things apart or let things rest a
while.

Anybody have some thoughts?

thanks,
