More on the Astatic D-104 -G. Heidelman, K8RRH
QST articles August 1999, p. 34, March 2001, p. 59
show circuitry that allows the D-104 to be properly loaded
while driving a rig from a low source impedance.
QST June, 2002 HINTS AND KINKS, P. 61 has more on this
adaptation of high impedance mics to low impedance modern rigs.
Figure 1- a mic preamplifier for adapting a D-104. A pot at
the output allows audio drive to be set precisely to prevent
overdriving.
Figuire 2- a circuit for adapting an ICOM using pin 1 Mic
in, and the 2N5484. Both circuits use the 2N5484.
Figure 3- Adapting the D-104 to transceivers with dc available
on a pin other than that carrying the audio. Rob Sherwood,
NC0B, Mike Tracy, KC1SX of the ARRL lab provided assistance and lab
tests.
