[Elecraft] K2 with Distorted Transmit Signal

Hi, John,

I just finished fixing a problem that sounds exactly like the one you
describe by replacing RFC15. It is the miniature inductor that is tacked on
the bottom of the board on U4 pin 16. In my radio, the inductor was
intermittent, and started out warbling. The signal got more and more raspy
until I quit using the radio to fix the problem. The inductor ended up
open.

If you can find a 100 uH choke, try replacing RFC15.

Good luck,

Bill

Subject: [Elecraft] K2 with Distorted Transmit Signal

Hello,

I just completed #3706. Went through alignment with no problems. Good
power on all bands etc. Tonight during my first QSO, the op reported a
distorted signal. Using another receiver and listening to the signal, it
sounds raspy or kind of has a warbing to it. I noticed that it only make
the noise though when I use the paddlet and keyer. If I just press the TUNE
button, the signal sounds clean. Any ideas out there?

John
