Tom,
A mic plug is available at Radio Shack - 274-001 CB & Ham Microphone Plug.
How you wire the plug depends on how you configured the mic header on the K2
front panel board as well as the particular D-104 mic and stand that you
have there - so I really can't answer that part for you without a lot more
information.
Now about your D-104. If you have the amplified version, it should work
fine - just add the plug to the end of the mic cable.
However, if you have the unamplified version, the mic element a crystal type
and needs a high impedance (10K or greater) at the transciever.
Unfortunately, the K2 (and most modern rigs as well) are designed for a low
impedance (about 600 ohm) microphone. You can add a high impedance input
preamplifier as several folks have done - there was an article in QST a
while back on using the D-104 with modern transceivers that may help you.
I solved the problem here by replacing the crystal mic element with a Heil
element - I like the lollipop mic and couldn't resist trying the Heil
element too - I got the best of both worlds. YMMV.

| I have just finished the KSB2 and need to connect my D104 microphone, but
I
| have some questions I hope someone can help me with.
|
| - Where do I buy a plug for the mic cable? What is the nomenclature and
who
| sells it?
| - Which wires go where on the plug.
| - Do I need to modify the K2 mic input in any way to accommodate the
D104?
