[Elecraft] clix

Well, with all the postings about how to listen for one's clix, I cranked
up the Drake 2C and R4B, both using 400Hz filters, detuned so that my
K2/100 signal at 100 watts into a dummy load was S9, tuned up and down
beyond the signal and . . . . . . . nothing heard on the 2C and only a very
mild, just audible sound on the R4B. I couldn't be sure the sound on the
R4B was in fact clix from the K2/100 or artifacts in nonlinear responses in
the R4B due to proximity. There is always something problematic about
listening to a xmitter in a rx sitting on the same shelf, even qrp. So I
could draw no conclusions other than, were I a fellow contester sitting
just down the table from the K2/100 within 1KHz I would have found nothing
(nothing) the slightest bit unfriendly or objectionable. Who knows?
But, the one thing I did learn for sure was: this is one of the few times
I've really had a chance to listen to the K2 note in another rx, something
other than the sidetone. And, by golly and by gosh, it really sounds
super. No wonder I keep getting nice comments on the air about the note --
and none about clix (I've never had one).
Oh well, things do differ at different places.
best wishes,
