I currently own 4 paddles, the GHD Optical (Very Nice - gift from the XYL),
the Kent, the TenTec version of the Vibroplex, and the Begali Simplex . . .
and as nice as all of them are, I reach for the Begali Simplex most of all.
I think they're the best paddles for the money. My least favorite are the
Vibroplex. They're okay, but the quality just isn't there.
Buy something decent. Doesn't have to be super expensive. I've heard good
things about the K8RA paddles but never used them.
A lot of hams will spend big money on rigs and spend next to nothing on
paddles or antennas.
If you have good paddles you'll use them . . .
As far as learning how to use them . . . the best I've found is the K7QO
site . . . and another is the downloadable (for free) or buy printed and
bound "The Art And Skill of Radio Telegraphy" at
http://www.qsl.net/n9bor/n0hff.htm
