Engineering an antenna and feed system is a matter of satisfying
requirements involving performance, efficiency, cost, and operational needs.
There is no single "best" solution.

Most amateurs find that a tuner located  in the shack is a good compromise
among the variables listed above. Some applications require a tuner located
at the antenna feedpoint while for others, that represents needless expense
and operational inconvenience.

There is no single "best" solution. For example, some applications require a
low SWR on the feedline while others work very well with large SWR. The
requirements of the overall task dictate the design decisions, not rules of
thumb.
