Yes, I've done that for Field Day at times due to "circumstances beyond 
my control".  Used an SGC tuner made for the purpose (weather proofed); 
LDG likely has a similar product..

At the home QTH my antennas are selected to avoid remote tuners (since 
all rigs I now use have built-in ATUs and my 800 W amp has a Pi network 
that handles my beam just fine).  Since I use the amp so seldom, I sure 
would not want to buy ANY autotuner for that :-)
