Hi
Not quite a kit but the MFJ-4125 25 amp switching power supply will fit =
into the Elecraft EC-2 box with enough room for one of the 2.9 amp hour =
gel cells as well. You could even put a solar controller into the box as =
well. This would give you a QRO power supply when AC power is available =
with a QRP battery back up if the power fails and it would all match the =

Subject: [Elecraft] Re: Power supply for K2/100
How about an Elecraft power supply kit? Seems like there might
be enough interest in having one available for those of us who
want a completely homebuilt HF station.
Price should be comparable to an Astron. The design could perhaps
use a toroid power transformer so it can be placed close to the
transceiver without generating VCO hum problems. A "front firing"
speaker (maybe driven by a 5-watt internal audio amplifier) might
be nice. :-)
I would shy away from a switching design in case someone wants
to use their Elecraft with an indoor loop antenna for 160-meter
reception close to the rig and power supply.
I'm currently using a homebrew power supply, but the power transformer
(from an old 1949 Heathkit BE-1 battery eliminator) isn't really up
to the task. After building a K2/100, the thought of having to
PURCHASE a ready-made power supply simply does not appeal to me.
Just a thought...
