This week and next week we will mailing out free firmware upgrades to owners
of the first 100 KDSP2s shipped before 6/30. This upgrade, V3.00, will bring
the DSP2 board Atmel CPU up to the same revision we have been shipping for all
later units.

There is no need to contact the factory to request an upgrade.

We decided the best and least expensive method was for us just to mail the
upgrade to everyone who has not already received it from our tech support
group. We only ask that you return the old chip to us.

Background:

The initial shipment of KDSP2 included MCU firmware version 2.97. The
current version, 3.00, corrects a couple of minor problems. The most
obvious one to most users is a tendency to lock-up the DSP if there is a
KPA100 in use, transmitting into a high SWR, at a power level greater than 10
watts.

Here's how to check your MCU code version.

Tap DISPLAY to bring up the KDSP2 menu.

Press RCL to bring up the next KDSP2 menu.

Press RCL again, and again if necessary, until you are in one of the Gain
menus (CF, RF, SF, CN, SN).

Press STORE. If you see:

dSP 3.14 or dSP 3.16 followed by CtL 2.97 then you should get the MCU
firmware upgraded.

If you see

dSP 3.16, followed by CtL 3.00, FCS FFAd, EEP 8AC1 your firmware is current.
