[Elecraft] DSP and IF filtering

LS,

the K2 allows it's IF and DSP filters to be set in any combination.

What would be the advantage (in any) to set the IF wide and the AF narrow,
or vise-versa ? I'm a casual operator, and used the old AF filter mostly for
the clock, switching once in a while to the default IF2 filter and rarely to
IF3, but most operating was done on IF1. I would have thought that, if IF
and DSP have to "team up", this would be an option in the menu.

I'm no CW buff, but I have been married for nearly twenty years, so
selective listening is not new to me <G>
