I built KX1 Ser # 59 on Wednesday including the 30m board, paddles and the ATU
I did it in one big long 11 hour session, finished up around 4 Am!
It's a good radio, the receiver copes ok even on nighttime 40m in Europe
(but use the rf gain control)
the filtering is good, Keyer is the usual Elecraft keyer feel, not my
absolute favorite but perfectly useable at my normal speeds (~25wpm)
ATU matches a fairly wide range of loads with no problems noted so far
BC band reception is very useable. 30m board is a pain to fit.
the ergonomics are excellent and it is a 'cool' radio
I haven't had it long enough ( & this I guess goes for most KX1 users so
far) to have used it in many unusual places but this one is certainly going
to go places with me
the paddles are ok, not brilliant, but ok. I am fussy about paddles and
like nice crisp paddles with very tight spacing and light pressure
(currently using begali magnetic classic with my K2/100 ) these paddles are
not too bad however for thier size and simplicity and are rugged. perfectly
useable at my normal speeds and ideal for the intended purpose.
Definitely a fun radio
