Bob,

My D-104 has a Heil HC-5 element inside - just padded the big open spot with
foam until things fit.  For use with the K2, I needed about 3 dB of
amplification with that element.
I have just installed John Grebenkemper's mod for increased gain in the KSB2
but have not yet tested it.  I am hoping I can ditch the external mic amp,
but that remains to be seen.

I don't know if the element used in the Elecraft mic is available
separately, and even if it is, the mic case may have to meet certain
acoustical parameters for it to give the desired audio response - I really
don't know, but just stating a caution that may have to be considered.
