I am happy to say that K1 # 1639 went together without a hitch and
is working beautifully.

I do have a couple of questions about the operation of the KAT1.

Q1. Under what conditions does that KAT1 re-tune? Is it only
when ATU mode = TUN and the WPM+ and WPM - are pushed
to put the K1 into tune mode. I guess what I am asking is will
the KAT1 automatically retune if the SWR is > than some threshold
while sending (ie this is what my LDG QRP tuner does).

Q2. After I have used the tuner on a given band, do the relays
reset to their default position when I switch the tuner off (ie ATU
mode set to OUT) or only after setting the ATU mode to OUT
and  activating TUNE by depressing both WPM+ and WPM - on the K1?
