[Elecraft] Sound card for Lap Top

Chas,

If you have two sound cards, you have to select one to be the default. Many
programs that use sound cards, including the ones on my website, are
written to use only the default sound card so you will have a problem with
them if you don't want to use the default one. In MixW you can choose which
of two soundcards to use, one for input and one for output, if you wish.
For the sound card to be usable at all, it must have a driver, and it is
this what is "detected" by the software that uses it, so it makes no
difference whether it is a PCI card, PCMCIA or USB.

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with a second sound card for a Lap Top? I
found a couple different types on the web. One plugs into a PCMCIA slot,
but it is a little pricey, 99 USD, street price. The other type uses a USB

port, and are more reasonably priced, ~29 USD. I am concerned that the
latter ones may not be detected by the PSK31 program, and thus be useless
for that purpose.
