We in Ireland have had some serious problems with GLS including delivery to
the wrong address (local shop is a handier drop for the driver..) long
delivery times, missing invoices, Rough treatment of items, insane handling
'fees' for clearing customs, Use of incorrect tariff codes (causing extra
duty to be levied) all with no comeback or customer complaints procedure
whatsoever for the recipient and complaints about this service don't even
get acknowledged by the USPS.
I will no longer order anything from the US or the UK that gets shipped by
'post' since it will pass though the hands of GLS. it's such a shame that
the Irish post office no longer gets to handle this incoming parcel traffic
from the US / UK since the Irish post office has always offered high
quality service.
My last Elecraft order is now in Dublin (with UPS) UPS just rang me to
advise me that I was paying vat (but not duty or handling fee ) and that I
can pay the driver when he delivers (next working day)
The extra cost of shipping UPS would have barely covered the GLS ' customs
handling ' fee and I certainly would not be seeing my K1VX next week.
BTW GLS are owned in part by the UK parcel 'farce' company that the UK post
office runs.
there seems little that the consumers of Europe can do to improve things
with GLS, I wonder does the USPS realise how many European customers are
now avoiding the USPS because of GLS ?
