Many folks don't know that you can't.

I observed a "damsel in distress" last week at a downtown Baltimore
Gas Station.  The attendant, safe behind bullet-proof glass, was no help
to her.

In an attempt to be a gentleman, I went to her pump to explain how
self server worked, since it looked like she was confused, and
her pleas directed at the intercom in the gas pump went unanswered.

She must have misunderstood my intentions, as the discharge of Mace
and pepper spray stopped me cold in my tracks.

I recall, as the police and ambulance arrived, that she was still
standing at the pump.

Perhaps the Garden State should issue motorist's handbooks.
