WELL SAID! And worth repeating!

Elecraft has been selling production rigs for what - 4 years now? In those 4
years, they've sold at least 5000 rigs (3500 K2s and 1500 K1s - and my numbers
are old and probably way low) plus an amazing array of accessories for each.
Not to mention the transverters, enclosures, antennas, etc. And now a new rig
that sets yet another new standard.

And all those 5000+ rig sales were generated from a website, a few small ads,
coupla product reviews, and strategic appearances at hamfests and
conventions.

Support? When I was building my K2, I had a small problem with a part. Fired
off an email. Reply was on its way back to me in 41 minutes, replacement parts
that same business day by first class mail....

The KX1 reminded me of something I could not put my finger on for a long
time, until a few nights ago when I saw an article in a QST for 1938 or so. It was
for the original "QSL-40", a simple 6L6G oscillator rig devised by Frank
Sutter, W8QBW. It was so named because its chassis top was about the size of a QSL
card. There were all sorts of variations of the basic QSL-40 over the next
few years, and the rigs were reportedly very popular.

Isn't the KX1's top just about the size of a QSL card?
