Not likely, as there is a price premium on quality type N connectors.   Type
N is fine for weather proof, constant impedance well up into Microwave
region.

UHF types have to be externally weather proofed by the ham, but that is
cheaper than the gaskets and rework of a type N if reused.   UHF have
negligible losses even up to 2m band.   They are easier (less complex) to
assemble for the average ham with limited soldering tools and skills.  Type
N requires more precise measured cuts for proper assembly and has six parts
vs. the two parts of the type UHF.  Type UHF with silver plating and teflon
insulators goes for $1 in quantities at area hamfests here.

Type N new, by contrast goes for $6.09 in the Mouser catalog.
