[Elecraft] K2 sidetone noise

'Crafters,

Recently my K2 (2833) has begun making an odd noise associated with the 
sidetone. It only seems to occur on 40M. It doesn't happen all the time. 
It's similar to an overlaid raspy tone underneath the sound of the my 
sidetone upon keydown. The pitch changes with time, that is, the longer the 
keyer is closed the lower (and raspier) the note gets. Sometimes it's a 
faint, distant whine that gets noisier and harsher during my turn of the 
QSO. Sometimes it just starts out noisy and raspy. I've asked those that I'm 
in QSO with if they've noticed anything unusual in my signal and the 
response has been, no. There have been no mods done to the K2. I'm assuming 
that this is just internal. Oh, and it can be VERY irritating. Any ideas?
