[Elecraft] antenna wire

I agree with Alfred. However, I've found the best "fishing weight" for
hanging antennas, either by throwing or by slingshot, to be an "egg" sinker.
They are round (or nearly so, some are slightly oval), and have a hole
drilled (cast?) thorugh the middle thru which you thread your pilot line.
They are available in various weights (I use 3 oz. with a slingshot) and my
experience is they tend to snag less than any other type weight. Another way
to use them is to tie the line on then swing it in a circle in the verticle
plane, letting go of the line as the weight approaches the top of the swing.
With a little practice you can aim it and get the line up higher than by
throwing , but not as high as the sling shot. If the intended branch/tree is
not too high and you want to skip the pilot line and go straight to
parachute type support line you can substitute a plastic (1) pint water/soda
bottle......adjust the weight by the varying the amount of water in the
bottle. CAUTION...... have onlookers stand clear while you try this....or
any other method for that matter.
