[Elecraft] Question #3 on building the K2

Michael,

You will have to use the parts from both RF board parts bags during the
assembly of the RF board, and if you want to do a complete inventory, you
will have to open both. If you inventory ALL the parts initially, you can
identify any shortages up front and obtain any missing parts before you need
them.

Since you are sorting components by value, you may want to try my sorting
method for the capacitors and other things that have leads - I cut the USPS
mailing box in half (so that it produces 2 'trays'). The corrugated edges
are just right for sticking the leads into, and you can mark the values on
the cardboard surface (all the .001 caps are in a row close to each other,
then a gap and the .01 caps, etc.) - and they are easy to grasp when it
comes time to use them. Also the components are not as likely to spill if
the cardboard tray gets 'tipped'. Everyone has their favorite methods, but
I like this one - it dates back to the instructions for sorting in the old
Heathkit manuals.

I am about to begin the building on the main RF board for the K2. The
| book says to open the bag marked RF, I have two bags stuffed full of
| parts, RF a and RFb, should I open and sort out both bags , or just bag
| A? I don't want to open a bag until I actually need it ... for fear of
| losing or damaging all those many parts. I am separating them during
| inventory of the bags as I need them, and putting them into paper egg
| crate holders. This allows me to keep them sorted out by component value
| and type. Makes things easier. Thanks for any help and advice.
