[Elecraft] K2/100 CW Problem

Noticed a problem with my K2/100 today, while checking out the FISTS Sprint.
First time I've really played around with CW other than occasional ragchew
since I built the rig.  I noticed it takes several "dits" before the K2
shows any RF out.  Like it has to "build up" to full RF out.  The outboard
RF meters (and K2 bargraph) will show  nothing with the first couple of
dits, then slowly, over 8 or 10 dits, build up to the power the rig is set
for.  I tried it with the power set below 10watts and also with the KPA100
at 100 watts, and have the same problem.  Once it "gets going" it's fine for
a while, unless there's a lull in the action, or I change bands; or turn off
the K2 and turn it back on.  The sidetone sounds right from the first dit.
Sounds like something needs "charging" to get turned on . . .
Any clues where to look?
