Trev, I can recommend the Butternut HF9-V without reservation. It is sturdy,
low-loss and has earned its share of pelts.
On 75 the other evening it held its own against my 80-meter full-wave
horizontal loop and my 20-meter EDZ. The other guys could not understand how
a 26 ft vertical over 18 radials could do so well!
Get one of these - put it on the ground if you have the room and put down as
many radials at least 25-30 ft long as you can manage. The 6-band HF6-V
works just as well . . .
