Here's another way to zero beat WWV that works,
sometimes.
When you first build the kit, the initial setting
for the widest filter used for LSB will almost
certainly pass both side bands. When WWV is sending
a tone - say 600 Hz, you won't hear 600 Hz unless
the BFO is exactly right. Say it is off by 5 Hz.
You will hear 605 Hz from one side band, and 595 Hz
from the other side band. Since the AGC also hears
this, if you have AGC on FAST, and BAR, you will see
more than one bar lit up. How fast they flicker back
and forth is twice how far off the tuning is. You
can tune for the beat note by ear, or by slowing down
the how fast the AGC saws back and forth.
From there, the best thing to do is use Wayne's method,
Roughly speaking, use CAL FCTR to measure the PLL and
BFO frequency, and adjust C22 so that the difference
matches WWV, once that is done go back and do CALL PLL
and CAL FIL.=20
