[Elecraft] K2 filter/ bfo adjustments for Pactor?

I set my K2 up for AMTOR, PACKET and RTTY doing it Don's way. Works a =
treat. My BFO on FL1 is set for 4916.32. =20
                              _
I found I have to use r (r - reverse: this is using USB) to get the =
right bandpass for digi modes, and I set my TNC to reverse the tones. =
It doesn't matter too much with packet, but with rtty and amtor it's =
essential.

| Hello everyone
|
| I recently picked up a SCS PTC IIex modem to use with Winlink 2000.
|
| Does anyone on the list have experience or information on how best to =
set
up
| the digital mode filters and bfo settings on the K2 for pactor 2 and 3 =
?

I suggest you first look closely at the modem specs to figure out which
tones are used for the vaious modes. Then set up the K2 for best
performance with these tones. I hesitate to give you exact information, =
but
here is something in general:

Activate RTTY mode on the K2 because that gives you the ability to turn =
off
the compression independently from the SSB setting and also gives you 4 =
new
filters to select from. Set these filters up with a width suitable for
containing the tones your modem is looking for on a particular mode - =
For
example, if the tones are 1200 Hz and 1600 Hz, then a 400 Hz width would
barely cover them, so go for something like 800 Hz, and then set the =
BFO(s)
so the tones are at the pitch your modem likes. Remember that (just =
like
for SSB mode), FL1 is the one used to transmit, so set FL1 to use the =
OP1
filter and set those BFOs so your tones are correct for that filter.
