Hi Norm --

I had a similar experience with one of the battery holders in my KX1. The
holder had a continuity problem -- no voltage output when loaded with 6
cells -- so I removed one of the holders, and in the process of
re-installing the holder, I stripped the threads in two of the cover holes.
I never found out what the continuity problem was, since the internal
battery pack works fine now. I solved the problem of the stripped threads
by carefully using the screws as place-holders (since the positioning of the
holders is critical for allowing the crystals and and the key socket to
nestle between them), then clamping the loose holder with grocery produce
rubber bands and applying some contact cement between the holder and the
bottom cover. It worked so well that I did the same thing with the other
battery holder just for insurance. The KX1 internal battery system is now a
non-problem.

Subject: [Elecraft] KX1 battery holder

Greetings again,

I just managed to strip out one of the screws used to hold down a =
battery holder in my KX1 while doing a battery change. Any ideas on a =
fix would be appreciated. Thanks.
