[Elecraft] K2 build resistor question

Building my first K2 and having a ball. I am sure if you are on the list you
have or already have built a kit but if not, what are you waiting for !

Anyway, the manual states at one point "Install the following 1/4 watt
resistors, orienting them so that the first band is at the left or toward
the back of the board......"

Is this some type of standard practice or something? What is the purpose of
orienting resistors.
