Nice work, Don!
You may not need that 820-ohm resistor. We used it in the K2 to moderate the
double-humped response on 160 meters. But this was only necessary because one
filter is shared on 80 and 160 meters, and it's a compromise on both. Your
K1-B160 mod will not need such a swamping resistor to flatten the filter.
Instead, you could probably reduce the size of the top-coupling cap to achieve
critical coupling as opposed to the slightly over-coupled K2 design. Some
additional tweaking of component values might be in order, too, but if your
results are good, this is optional.
If others have good success with this, too, we might consider making a kit
available.
It's important to note that 160 meters is already accommodated by the K1's firmware.
