Good point, Vic. My Vibroplex, according to the serial number records, =
was
built in 1956, so I mis-spoke in my original post and you may be on the
right track. I was involved in a long discussion among Vibroplex users =
on
another reflector in which all sorts of theories for why some are =
'faster'
than others, including theories about the springs ageing... Then I found =
the
photo showing that my old friend obviously had to do some serious =
"slowing"
of this one back in the 70's when he worked at KPH.=20

Your suggestion is the most sensible I've heard yet. This is the ONLY
Vibroplex that I've used.=20

Vibroplex over the years has used different thicknesses of mainspring.=20
I've seen 0.012" to 0.018". The thinner ones will go slower. In my=20
experience, the ones from the early '60's tend to be the best. I have=20
an Original from 1960 which has the thinner spring, so perhaps Ron's is=20
a bit older. ...
