Tom,
=20
One avenue you might investigate, or more likely suggest to the author =
of Writelog (or your favorite logger) about, is the solution currently =
being used for running WISPDDE on XP and Windows 2000 today.
=20
In my case I use Satscape to talk to WISPDDE via DDE, and WISPDDE in =
turn uses the parallel port to control an inexpensive FODtrack board for =
automated Az-El rotor control. =20
=20
There is a program from Scientific Software Tools, port95nt.exe which =
installs drivers named DLportIO. This installs a parallel port driver. =
In the WISP folder, a replacement inout.dll file is dropped in that uses =
the DLPortIO driver for 2000/XP. WISPDDE uses this inout.dll for =
parallel port access.
=20
Writelog could be changed to use this inout.dll, or more directly, the =
DLportIO drivers for its own parallel port access in a way similar to =
the method WISP DDE uses. The source is available for all of this I =
believe so it might be an easy change for the Writelog author to make.=20
=20
If you are a Satscape user you would follow this procedure:
1.. You install WISPDDE from =
http://www.chasque.net/franky/wispdde/wdde_eng.htm or it is possibly =
included in the sat tracking program such as Satscape.=20
2.. Install DLPORTIO drivers by downloading & running port95nt.exe, =
found at http://www.driverlinx.com/DownLoad/DlPortIO.htm=20
3.. Download inoutnt.zip. I cannot find the source location on the =
web for this but I can send it to you. Pretty small.=20
4.. In the directory you installed WISP, Overwrite your existing =
INOUT.DLL with the one in the inoutnt.zip archive=20
5.. Configure your Rotor interface for FODTrack and LPT1 (or what =
ever your port number is). =20
6.. Big NOTE: The DLPortIO driver only talks to directly connected =
parallel port hardware - it does not seem to deal with parallel ports on =
add-in PCI cards. I have confirmed this on 2 computers so far. This =
is generally no issue, since the printer that was probably on the =
built-in parallel port will work fine on the PCI add-in card.=20
