Steve -
The keying paddle is intended to be unplugged during transit, so going 
into accidental transmit mode is most unlikely.  It is possible to go 
into TUNE but that requires two buttons to be pressed simultaneously.

The power on/off switch does protrude very slightly, but the switch is 
quite positive and unlikely to be switched on by accident.
