Keying with the Elecraft KXPD1 Plug-In Keyer Paddle is not the same as with
conventional iambic paddles. With most paddles, the action changes little
by changing where your fingers touch the paddles. Try squeezing the KXPD1
near the back of the molded rubber grips: nothing happens. Now try
squeezing near the middle. The paddles work, but you have to squeeze quite
hard. Now try squeezing very close to end farthest from the KX1. Keying at
the very end is quite light-touch and very effective. About 25 WPM is my
upper limit for fairly accurate keying. In a cold tent with gloves on, I'll
probably be a lot more comfortable around 20 WPM. How does this work for
others?
