[Elecraft] CW filter settings. and WinTune

Hi Gang,
The responses to Carl's question have been very interesting. I seem to
have read somewhere along the line (but I could be wrong) that Elecraft is
recommending the OP1 setting for FL1 on CW. As several posters have
stated, it gets pretty noisy, for me, with that wide of a bandwidth. I have
my FL1 set at 1.50 and go down to .7 on FL4. The attenuation factor has
concerned me but I think I will try .1 for FL4.
As an aside, for those like myself who's ears and the 'spot' function don't
get along, I've downloaded a nice little utility for the PC. Its called
"Wintune" and I wish I could tell you name of the fellow that put it
together. I think its based around Digipan (the psk31 program) and it puts
up a tiny window anyplace you choose on your computer screen. It then
visually zero-beats your signal. Very neat and very accurate. Again I
apologize to the person who put this together for forgetting his name.
If anyone else can share info on this, it may be helpful to others as
tone-deaf as me.
Thanks for a nice thread.
