[Elecraft] Keying interface for K1/K2

Hi Earl
I can't really take the credit for the keying
interface adapter. The one I have is the Model 5
by W1WEF, sold on the TR LOG web site. I bought
it at the same time I bought TR Log so I would
have a complete setup. I've only used it on cw,
but it has worked very well for me so far. If I
do get into ssb contesting as well, it has both
PTT and footswitch inputs as well.

plug into this adapter, keying the laptop which in turn keys the K2.

I set the K2 menu to Hand Keying, instead of paddle keying. I also have
the laptop connected to the K2 via the KIO2 data option.

The keying speed is controlled by TR Log, not by the speed control on the
K2 front panel.

Makes a very nice contest station this way.

Any logging program that can key the rig via the serial port should also
be able to key the rig via the parallel port with a cable/adapter such as
the one Bob made up.

Sounds to me like the best way to fly.
