Elecraft microphones [was Re: [Elecraft] KSB2 Modifications]

I have an MH-3 (Heil mic manufactured for Elecraft) and was really quite
surprised at what I saw when I removed the 3 screws holding the casing
together and took a look inside. If you have one, take a look.

 However, on a positive note, I put my newly-transformed-to-SSB K2 on 20
meters today, for the first time, and got positive feedback, so I guess that
the bottom line is in the results and I have no real complaints.

Building a simple pre-amp is more straightforward than making an ATU
or putting up an antenna (at least you can do it in the warm).

I use a Yaesu MH-31 (left over from my FT1000MP) with a 1 transistor
preamp that is now built in. It is mounted on the mic selection plug
on the display board. Plenty of audio gain and excellent SSB reports.

The parts (excluding the mic) about 2.50, but then I had all of them
in the junk box.
