I agree some sort of pre amp / equaliser etc is needed for the KSB2. Most
microphones are capable of excellent audio BUT they do have very different
output levels. And the range of adjustments on the KSB2 is too limited to
get decent audio without distortion due to intermodulation.

I have found the front end of the equaliser from QST Dec 2002 page 39 - just
the 'bare bones' works very well. It does a very good job in allowing you to
set up the audio response.

But I still can't get the VOX to trip with audio levels properly set below
the distortion threshold. If I turn the audio up the VOX trips fine but the
audio is distorted. At least to my ears anyway !  K2s should sound very
clean - we can't let the standards slip!

Actually the KSB2 probably needs a rehash
