I built what I call my "Junk Box Special" antenna...cuz that's where all
the parts came from! I used PVC tubing left over from my last effort at
home plumbing ... tow Radio Shack folding antennas and some coax. I
wound six turns of coax around one end of the pipe and wired the two
radials in the center fed dipole configuration. Here is the data I saw
using my K2 ATU in auto tune mode:
BAND/MHz SWR
80M / 3500 7.1:1
40M / 7000 8.1:1
30M / 10000 5.8:1
20M / 14000 1.1:1
17M / 18000 1.2:1
15M / 21000 1.1:1
12M / 24800 1.8:1
10M / 28000 3.5:1
Well ... it's kinda limited, and I haven't yet tried it on the air with
contacts ... but the price was right and it took about one hour to throw
it all together .... I think the actual go buy the parts cost would be
less than $10.00, it's very light and portable. Next project, go up on
the roof and set a trip wire for Santa Klaus ...er ......
a center fed dipole of about 50 foot length .....
