[Elecraft] optimal counterpoisation?

For use with a rig such as this KX1, or even, say,
a K1, operating on, say, 20, 30 or 40 meters, what
would be the theoretical ideal length, number and
deployment profile of RF ground wires? ( I like that -
"Deployment Profile" - hmmm...) And what practical
considerations might lurk about to cause us to
compromise, if any?

   Could they be in close proximity to each other, as
in, shrink-wrapped together, or some such? That would
be cool, as the resultant cable would be easier to
ship and stow, compared to a bunch o' wires.
