Greetings!

KX1 #143 is now alive and well. Hopefully, all of the modules will find =
their home tonight. I thought I would share some thoughts on =
construction while still fresh.

The errata sheet has two options for installing R32. Using C19 is a =
much easier choice. Install C19 first, leaving it's leads bent away =
from each other and un-trimmed. Form the R32 leads to fit tightly on =
the outside of C19's, solder, trim and Bob's your Uncle. =20

Twisting the wires for the torroid transformer is a piece of cake if you =
pair them up, put one end in a vise, grab the other with either a small =
hand drill (first choice) or pliers or vise grips and start twisting. =
The trick is to keep it slack as you twist and "milk" the turns down the =
wires every 4 or 5 turns, pulling it taught as you do so. This will =
give a very uniform twist.

Tinning the torroid leads is the easiest way to remove the varnish. =
Load your iron tip with as much solder as it will hold, start at the =
wire end, totally immersing it in the solder and slowly move the iron =
towards the core. The rosin flux will float the varnish away from the =
wire as you go. Once you reach the core, shake the solder from the =
iron, load up with fresh solder and go from the core to the end of the =
wire. You will end up with perfectly clean, tinned wires.

Hope you all have as much fun building as I did. By the way, thanks =
Victoria for the great job sorting out all the right parts.

73,

N7NSD
Norm
