The solution to your "problem" is easy. Simply buy a second 
K2! Have one set-up for K2/QRP with a KAT100-2 & KPA100 
in an EC2 enclosure. Then have a K2/100 with a KAT100-1. 
You can then grab and go with whatever you need. 
Additionally, this will give you dual receive/transmit capability 
at your home QTH and allow you to run two transverters 
(one uplink, one downlink) for the newly released Elecraft kits! 
Actually, you don't need to have the EC2 with the KAT100-2 
& KPA100, but it does give you more to build. ;-)
